Cultural Excursions

The Fall 2008 program in Tucson, AZ and Ambos Nogales will arrange three required excursions during the semester that are designed to compliment the academic work students are engaged with on the border. These trips include a comparative Border excursion, an Interior Mexico excursion (the 2008 trip is to Mexico City) and an Altar, Sonora excursion.

Excursions are a very important part of the learning process about life on the Border. The trips are intended to enhance students understanding about the border, and to take advantage of the natural beauty.

In 2007, students traveled to the twin cities of Tucson, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora. Learn more about this excursion by reading Marissa Fisher's postcard to Antioch. On the interior Mexico excursion, the students traveled to Mexico City where in addition to learning more about the dynamics of the interior of Mexico, they also met with numerous human rights organizations as this excursion coincides with the human rights portion of the class entitled, Globalization, the Border, and Human Rights.
