Scenes from Various Field Study Sites
Alia gathers information on the local maquiladora industry as part of her field experience at the Centro de Estudios y Taller Laboral (CETLAC), an organization that strives to educate maquila workers about their rights as well as encourage the unionization of the workers.
In her down time at CETLAC, Jo scans the local paper, El Diario, for pertinent labor and economy related articles for the organization's education and archives.
Jo confirms the following day's events and does a handshake with her Field Study site supervisor, Daniel, before leaving CETLAC for the day.
Alia and Jo helped their co-workers build a Dia de los Muertos altar to revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata.
These are two of many posters found in the CETLAC office that convey a common sentiment about the effect of free trade on Mexico's economy. |
