The Earlham College HFH campus Chapter is a student-run, student-led organization that performs three main functions: building or rehabilitating houses in partnership with HFH of Greater Richmond, Indiana; educating the campus and local community about affordable housing issues and the work of Habitat for Humanity; and raising funds for Habitat for Humanity.

A hand full of Earlham students attended the Habitat for Humanity International 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala in Indianapolis. It was a wonderful event.

September 1, 2001

Work has started this semester with a great turnout of Earlham Volunteers on September 1, 2001. The local affiliate has just purchased about 4 acres of land on the 13th block of South O St. on which they plan on building about 12 to 14 houses. Many thanks to everyone who came out to help!

2000/2001

Many members of the Earlham College Football team joined us on Saturday, March 31st, 2001 to work on landscaping and building a shed at the house on 1st and Randolph St. Here are some pictures from that day. Thanks for your help EC Football!

We are putting the finishing touches on the house located at 1st. & Randolph St. Some touchup work is still needed. Dedication date is still undecided.

We are planning on sponsoring a house in the next year. It has been nearly 6 years since Earlham has completely sponsored a Habitat house. We have planned an aggressive strategy to raise money, and volunteers over the next year to meet this goal. We are waiting for a response from a half matching grant through Habitat for Humanity International. This will help us attain the necessary funds for the build. We are hoping to break ground around Winter Break 2001. If you wish to find out more about this, and how to become involved contact us.

Stay tuned for more information.

We can always use volunteers on our Saturday work days. No previous experience in construction needed! Just a willingness to learn, and have fun.

We work at the site every Saturday, and leave in front of the Co-Op. Dress in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. All tools supplied! We work in two shifts:

  • 9am - Noon
  • 1pm - 4pm

For more information about what we are doing, please contact us.

The Habitat for Humanity International web site contains more information on Habitat's history, mission, volunteer opportunities and contact information for other Habitat affiliates around the world.
