Earlham has a tradition of creating an encompassing environment of learning for a student while they are here, and language houses are an important key to that learning philosophy. Language houses provide an environment where the target language is spoken frequently, and also host a variety of activities-from sushi banquets to foreign film fests. Each year, several visiting assistant teachers from other countries live in the language houses. Earlham students, at an advanced oral level, interested in learning more through practice and social interaction are also encouraged to live in the house.
