My Courses
|
Ron Parker's Web Page I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geosciences
at Earlham College. Although I teach on the "soft-rock" side, I
am interested in almost all of the subdisciplines of
geology. I teach upper level courses in Mineralogy,
Hydrogeology, Sedimentology
and Geochemistry
as well as Introductory courses in Environmental Geology, Physical Geology Historical Geology and
Environmental Science and Sustainability. I also teach a fall
seminar course that zooms in on a particular theme (in 2002 we studied
the Future of
Global Energy Use; in 2003 we reviewed Plate
Tectonic Theory) and in 2007we investigated the history of the
development of nuclear technology in "Our Nuclear Legacy." I act
as an advisor to students completing their senior year Independent
Study projects. In addition to teaching, I enjoy watching and playing ice hockey and playing my acoustic guitar. Most of my time off-campus is spent having fun with my wife Kris and my five children, Andy, Will, Meg, Danny and Jane.
