Maria Chan Morgan received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University. She majored in Economics as an undergraduate at Hongkong University, and came to this country on a Syracuse-in-Asia Fellowship (1965-67) to complete a Master's Degree in Political Science at Syracuse University. She has been on the Earlham faculty since 1978. Her field of specialization is in Comparative Politics, teaching courses such as:
Maria contributes to programs in International Studies, Management, and East Asian Studies. Her research interests are in regional development in China, and the comparison of industrial policies in several East Asian countries. She has been the recipient of Southern Fellowships Fund, NEH faculty summer fellowships and Lilly Endowment Faculty Open Fellowship.
