PURPOSE

The Peace Studies Association is an independent federation of college programs, university programs, and individuals for the study of peace, conflict, justice, and global security.  Our goal is to address the needs of emerging and existing peace studies programs. The association was formed in order to serve the pedagogical, intellectual and institutional needs of this constituency by:

• Assisting Academic Programs and individual members through faculty workshops, seminars, consultations, and dissemination of information about existing programs and courses;
• Advancing Academic Quality of the field through forums for the discussion of curriculum and pedagogy, new research and publications in peace studies;
• Facilitating Improved Communication and collaboration among programs and individuals through annual meetings, symposia, and information outreach program.

The association is not limited to programs in the United States.  Current membership includes over one hundred programs and individuals in the United States, Canada, Europe , and Latin America.

The association is not formally affiliated with any other organization, but seeks to achieve its purpose through cooperation with organizations and individuals concerned with peace studies and the development of a more peaceful world.
