a Major

Jantré Haskin
- Indianapolis, Indiana
Jantré always wanted to study theatre
and chose Earlham for its liberal arts opportunities. From the
stage to off-campus studies,
she has made the most of her experience.
She performed in the musical "Hair" and was
a member of Dance Alloy, Concert Choir, Orchestra and the Black
Leadership Action
Coalition at Earlham.
Off stage and a world away, Jantré had
a tremendous learning experience as she spent the fall 2000 semester
in Africa with the
Kenya program.
Back on campus this spring, she led a discussion about beauty
issues for women of color at the Womyn's Center.
Jantré also performed in "Aint Misbehavin" in the fall of
2001 as her senior project, and in spring, 2002, was cast in the
production of "Falsettoland."
"I love the relationship I have with my professors," she says. "They
make a lot of time for me and are sincerely concerned about my
well being."
Jantré has found her course work in theatre arts interesting,
too. "One of my favorite courses has been Script Analysis.
I like to see how a play gets from the page to the performance. "I
have to be involved in theatre," Jantré states.
