The Bonner Scholars Program

Earlham is honored to be among the two dozen schools invited to host the Bonner Scholars Program on their campuses.

Bonner _0The Bonner Scholars Program provides service scholarships to students with high financial need, and supports a four-year, developmental program for Bonner Scholars that allows them to serve, learn and reflect. Earlham Bonner students graduate from the program with significant experiences and skills that support extraordinary lives of mission and value.

Earlham’s partnership with the Bonner Scholars Program began in 1992, and to date there are well over 200 Bonner Scholar Earlham alumni. The Bonner Foundation has endowed Earlham’s Bonner Scholars Program.

Each February 15, incoming students are selected from among the dozens of applicants for the next class of Bonner Scholars. There are a total of 60 Bonner Scholars at Earlham. Visit the home of Earlham’s Bonner Scholars Program and learn how to apply.

The Bonner Program transforms both the students who are directly supported by the program and the campus and community in which they serve and learn. The program's goals include:

For the Student

  • Provide access to a college education to students with high financial need.
  • Afford these students an opportunity to use their abilities, talents and leadership to serve others while in college.
  • Create a supportive community of students on campus whose common focus on community service gives them a sense of purpose and meaning

For the Community

  • Channel the energies and talents of college students, faculty and staff to help address the challenges of and opportunities within local communities.
  • Break down the socio-economic barriers within communities, leading to greater cooperation and collaboration.
