Students who have been enrolled in a degree-seeking program and have completed some academic coursework at another college or university are considered "transfer" students. Each year Earlham welcomes 25-35 transfer students into its entering class.
The most important step in your relationship with Earlham is applying for admission. Aside from the admission interview, your application for admission is our main source of information about you. Your application essay is particularly important in supplying a glimpse of your writing style, and evidence of your thinking and interests.
Take the time to do it right! Your Transfer Application for Admission is Earlham’s most important source of information about you. The list of Application Deadlines and Transfer Application Requirements Checklist will assist you through the process.
At Earlham, two admissions counselors thoroughly review your application prior to the decision of the Admissions Committee. Not relying on a strict formula to compute a student’s acceptance, Earlham’s admission decisions grow from a careful reading of your application materials. We consider your high school and college course work, your achievements in those courses, comments made by your professors, and many other pieces of information. Working with the Committee, the Admissions Staff makes an informed admission decision.
Transfer of Academic CreditsOnce you have been admitted to Earlham, the Earlham Registrar will complete a transfer credit analysis to inform you of the courses that will transfer to Earlham and of the General Education Requirements that your incoming credits based on previous coursework will satisfy. Typically, academic work graded a "C" or better is transferable to Earlham.
Please contact a member of the Admissions staff if you have questions about applying to Earlham.
