International Application Deadlines

International Students are encouraged to begin the application process as early as possible. Please ensure that all documents are in English (or that a translation is provided), detailed, and certified. Please note: An application will not be considered complete until all documents are received.

Fall Semester Application Deadline for financial aid applicants February 1
Fall Semester Application Deadline for non-financial aid applicants   March 1
Earlham’s Admission Decision Communicated on or near    April 1
Acceptance Confirmation and $1,100 Enrollment Deposit Due May 1

Application Requirements Checklist

— for International Students —

  • Basic Application Form – The student completes in English, providing personal information, high school information, academic interest(s), extra-curricular activities, etc. Earlham uses the Common Application exclusively.
  • Personal Statement – This statement reflects the student’s thinking processes and writing style (prose only). You may write about personal and academic development, significant experiences, or you may explore a global or national issue of importance, such as world hunger, an environmental problem, or peace and justice. The Admissions Committee is interested in each student’s viewpoint and personal writing style. The suggested length is two to three typed, double-spaced pages. Do not submit formal essays, creative writing or academic research.
  • Nonrefundable $30 application fee – You can pay on-line when you submit your application through Common Application On-Line or mail a check payable to Earlham College. Earlham will waive the application fee for students who cannot pay it due to currency restrictions or financial difficulties. Students unable to pay the fee should request a fee waiver when they submit the International Student Application for Admission.
  • Official records of secondary school work and exam results – Request your school to forward these official documents to Earlham.
  • Two letters of recommendation – These letters should be from teachers who are familiar with your academic work and personal qualities.
  • TOEFL or SAT I score reports as appropriate – You may submit certified photocopies. The SAT I and TOEFL code for Earlham is 1195.
  • One color photograph Your photograph adds a personal element to your application.
