Costs

Tuition & Fees

The charges for tuition, fees, room, and board for the 2008-09 academic year are $40,844. Fees cover costs of the testing services, an artist and guest lecture series, a post office box, health services (not including prescription medication), athletic events and funding for the student activities board, which organizes special events. In addition to these charges, each student is responsible for having a minimum of $2,500 each year for personal expenses, books and supplies, insurance and travel costs (even if the student is receiving an Earlham scholarship). It is not necessary to have the full $2,500 at the beginning of each year, but it is essential that this amount be available over the course of the year.

Health Insurance

All international students are required to have health insurance due to the high cost of medical care in the U.S. Students must participate in the Earlham health insurance plan if they have no other coverage that is valid in the U.S. The plan covers basic medical expenses up to $1,000 for each injury or sickness and up to $2,500 for major medical expenses, for a fee of $199 a year. Eyeglasses and dental work are not covered. This insurance is minimal and will not cover major accidents or illness.
