What advice would you give a UWC student who is considering applying to enroll at Earlham College?

There are two opposite ways to prepare for Earlham. First is to be passionate about something specific — a subject, community, service, study abroad, internationalism or the college experience in general. No matter what it is, Earlham is a great place to apply, support and develop your passion, adding thousands of opportunities and options. But there is another way as well — if you are not sure exactly what your interest is and are not afraid to experiment — Earlham is a fantastic place for an exciting academic, social, cultural or spiritual quest.

What influenced your decision to attend Earlham?

Great community, fantastic academic programs, study abroad opportunities, close connection to the professors, and, of course, a generous financial aid package.

What do you have to say about the interaction between you and your professors?

It has been simply great! I know all of my professors on a very close personal basis! I’ve had some amazing discussions outside of class, which were a substantial contribution to my understanding of the subject or simply my own personal development as a person. Earlham’s faculty members and their close connection to students are without a doubt one of the most distinguishing features of this place.

What has been the best thing about your Earlham College experience?

I’ve really enjoyed my college experience, in general. Outstanding characteristics that I’ve experienced at Earlham are its rigorous academic environment, great social life and quality of life, support for innovations and experiments, and the close, diverse campus community.

What do you have to say about the interaction between UWC students here at Earlham?

Earlham is definitely a great transition from UWC to college. We already have about 45 UWC students on campus, and this number is likely to increase. Interaction has been great so far. We are developing our own UWC club, and we definitely have lots of support from the college.
