Frequently Asked Questions

This page should answer your questions about TheHeart for alumni and about registering for an account.

If you have a technical question, Information Technology Services can help through the Help Desk.

About TheHeart:

Why do I have to register for an account?
TheHeart is a password-protected online space that provides a directory of contact information, some personal records, and access to campus resources. Due to the content shared on the site, only users with accounts are given access. Information on this site is not shared on the earlham.edu website.

Where did the e-directory go?
The e-directory is now a part of TheHeart, along with more complete contact information for many of your Earlhamite friends and classmates.

This sounds great! How do I sign up?
It's easy. Fill out the online form.

Once I've logged in, why does it ask me for my four-digit PIN?
You should not need a PIN to use any part of TheHeart. If you reach a screen that asks you for a PIN, that issue can usually be solved by logging out and logging back in. If the problem persists, please contact the IT Help Desk.

About Registering:

How long will registration take?
You should get your username and instructions to log in within 2 business days. Because we are manually validating your information, we can only process requests on business days. During this time, please keep an eye on your email, as well as your email's spam filter or "junk" folder for emails with the subject lines "Create Your Earlham Account" or "Account Reminder." Keep in mind that any email from Earlham College will always have an "@earlham.edu" address. If you do not hear back within a week, please email us at alums@earlham.edu.

Why do you ask for my parents' names?
We use all the information that you submit to verify your identity before we create your account. Your parents' names are one additional piece of information that helps us ensure that your request is really coming from you.

Why should I set up security questions?
Security questions are used in the process to reset your password. Setting up security questions now will save you the trouble of calling the ITS Help Desk should you ever forget your password.
