Instructions for Gifts of Securities
Procedures if your Broker or Banker holds your Securities
Via Electronic (DTC) Transfer
Contact your broker to inform him/her that you wish to donate securities to Earlham and ask them to transfer them via DTC to Earlham's account at Merrill Lynch in Indianapolis. More often than not, your broker will request written instructions from you regarding such transfers.
You will need to supply them with the following information on where to send the DTC:

Account Name: |
Earlham College |
Account Number: |

OR
Transfer to an Earlham Account at your Brokerage or Bank
Instruct your broker to establish a temporary account in the name of Earlham College and then have them transfer the shares you wish to donate to that account.
Once this has been done, ask your broker to telephone the Earlham Alumni and Development Office at the number below on the same day of the transfer. We will then instruct your broker to sell and remit the proceeds to Earlham.
Note:
The "date
of the gift," which sets the value of the gift, is determined
by the date that the stock is transferred to Earlham's DTC account
at Merrill Lynch or Earlham's temporary account at your brokerage
or bank. Because delays occur, we recommend that you also alert
the Alumni and Development Office of your request and we will
follow-up with your broker in order to expedite the transfer.
The College will pay for any broker's fees and you will be credited with the full value of the gift.
Please be sure to send us a brief, written communication with your contact information, the name of the stock, the number of shares, your broker's contact information, and your intentions for the use of the gift.
Please direct all correspondence to:
