James C. Hamilton ’59

James C. Hamilton ’59 double majored in chemistry and political science. At Earlham he was active in extracurricular affairs and served as president of the Earlham Student Senate; editor of the campus newspaper, The Earlham Post; and the chairman of the Central Communications Board. Jim earned an M.A. from Brandeis University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jim is counsel to the Law Firm of Verrill Dana, LLP, in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been active in various professional organizations and has served as president of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts. He joined the Alumni Council in 2005 and is currently a member of the Recognition Committee. He finds that his membership on the Alumni Council provides an opportunity to enhance his participation in the work of the Earlham community and to appreciate even more the value and importance of an Earlham education. It is his hope to work to convey these impressions to Earlham alumni and prospective students.
