Alumni Council Members

Kate Rutherford '67
Kate Rutherford '67 majored in English. As a student she was a member of Mask and Mantle, and was president her senior year. She participated in Earlham’s first Music, Art & Drama program in New York City in 1966. She attended Bank Street College of Education and taught 5th and 6th grades in New Jersey and Massachusetts, leaving teaching to spend the 70s on a small farm where she raised sheep and learned to spin and weave their wool. In the 80s she became a stockbroker specializing in socially responsible investing, a career which took her back to New York City where she lives now with her husband John Scott. She has worked in the corporate office of Ann Taylor since 1999. She joined the Alumni Council in 2005 as the convener for New York and a member of the Off Campus Affairs Committee. Her favorite memories of Earlham include plays with Arthur Little and evenings in the coffee house listening to the Clear Creek Singers or Dean Curtis reading Winnie the Pooh!
