Alumni Council Members

Tom Thornburg '84
Tom Thornburg '84 majored in Political Science (now Politics). At Earlham he was active in student government and worked with the campus newspaper and radio station . Tom earned J.D. and M.P.P. degrees from the University of Michigan. He lives in rural Orange County, North Carolina with his wife Jean Schwind. Tom is a professor and senior associate dean at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Government. He joined Alumni Council in 2002. Tom is currently the Council’s vice-chair and convener of its marketing and nominating committees. He enjoys the opportunities Alumni Council has given him to meet students and alumni from across generations, and to understand Earlham’s role in fostering its sense of community and values.
