Obituaries:

Marjorie Pickett Osborne
Marjorie Pickett Osborne of Richmond, Ind. died Jan. 7, 2007. She graduated from high school at Westtown Friends School in 1921 and from Earlham College in 1925. She then taught school in Virginia, New York and North Carolina. In 1929 she and her husband Lowell returned to the family farm in Bloomingdale. After their sons completed high school, she returned to teaching third grade in Rockville, Ind. schools for 25 years. Born into a family with generations of commitment to Quakerism and to the Bloomingdale Friends Meeting, she was always involved in church activities. Prior to returning to teaching, she served the local Quaker meeting on several committees, was clerk of the meeting for several terms and directed the choir. She also served as a clerk of the Western Yearly Meeting of Friends and served on several committees. Following retirement, Marjorie became more committed to community activities. She and Lowell participated in the founding of the Parke County Historical Society. She was deeply involved with Estabrook Chapter of the DAR, eventually serving as a state officer and serving on a DAR national committee. She is survived by two sons, Robert K. Osborne ‘52 and Alan R. Osborne ’56.
