Class of 1938
Classnotes:
Robert "Bob" C. Davis
In the spring of the year my thoughts often return to Earlham's 1937 undefeated baseball team. I think it was perhaps the best team ever.
The team played all the good college teams in the area which included Miami University, Ball State, Butler, and Indiana Central. Each team was played twice except Indiana Central. Butler failed to score in both games. George VanDyke was an outstanding coach. The team consisted of the following players: Deceased players: 3B Floyd Peters '38, 2B Francis Lightfoot '39, SS Malcolm Land '37, OF Eugene Frazier,
C Jimmy Parker '40, P Peter Hughes '39, P Dave Keyser '40, OF Wilbur Hardin '38, OF Ernie Mills '39, P Robert Davis '38, 1B Kenny Price '39, OF Paul Prible '38, MGR Lou Schneiderwind. Prof. Elton Trueblood attended the games and frequently congratulated the players. The entire team is in the Hall of Fame as well as three individual players: Floyd Peters, Bob Davis, and Dave Keyser.
