Obituaries:

Marilyn Voyles
Marilyn M. Voyles, age 87, of Richmond, died Monday evening (March 31, 2008) at Friends Fellowship Community. She was born in Richmond on April 28, 1920, to Paul and Dorothy Land Miller and had lived here all of her life. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and of Earlham College and had worked for International Harvester. Marilyn was a homemaker and had worked with her husband in the operation of Voyles News Agency. She was a strong, loving and faithful mother and wife with many loving friends. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Harry A. Voyles, died on Sept. 20, 2004.Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Voyles Lewis and Leslie Ann Adelsperger.

Valarie Barrows Clithero
Valarie Barrows Clithero, of Petaluma, California, died Jan. 24, 2008, after a brief illness. She was 87. Valarie was born in Rochester, New York, on June 24, 1920, to Charles Storrs Barrows and Florence Emerson Barrows. After growing up in Rochester, Valarie attended and graduated from Earlham College. During World War II, she served in the U.S. Navy. In 1948, she married William H. Clithero, Jr. Valarie and Bill shared 43 years together and raised two sons, Paul and John. Valarie and Bill moved to southern California in 1956 and lived in the towns of Garden Grove and Orange. While Bill was busy building a successful career in the electronics and defense industries, Valarie's life centered on her home, family, friends and church. Valarie was a deacon and an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove. She was a devoted wife and great mother. Valarie is survived by her son John and wife Sally of Petaluma; son Paul and wife Marguerite of West Linn, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill.
