What a joyous 30th reunion! Every time I saw ’79 classmates, they were smiling, every time I heard them talking, there was laughter. Their stories pointed to the value of an Earlham education—how many of our classmates have held a diversity of jobs, often meandering far from their majors, but continually employing the nuances of all Earlham had to teach. Best of all: we haven’t changed. Those wonderful people you knew 30 years ago are the same, just now with a healthy dose of life under their belts. Fifty-five of us reconnected. Now we need to keep connected and to hear from the rest of you. Send in your Class Notes and let us know where life has taken you. Jonathan and I live in Annapolis, MD and welcome you for a visit anytime!

What a wonderful time we had!! 50 plus alums and their guests helped bring in our 30th reunion in grand style. If you want to see the pictures contact Dotty or myself and we will send you the link. It was wonderful to reconnect with some people I had not seen in 30 years. Our classmates were cool in the day and they are still awesome now. It was a privilege and delight to be the co-chair with Dotty and a big note of thanks to Gail Clark in the Alumni Office for all her help. We talked, we laughed, we reminisced, we partied, we danced, we watched Ultimate Frisbee and Field Hockey, we went birding and we attended sample classes. Don’t miss the reunion next time. We missed you.

I am enjoying my artistic endeavors and parenting two teenaged daughters, Kerry and Valerie. Currently, I divide my time between North York, Toronto--where I live with my life partner Earl--and Tulsa, OK, where my roots remain. It would be great to hear from Earlham friends: Email Julie Nierenberg.

Bruce Baizel
Bruce Baizel (Bailey) has been working as staff attorney for the Oil & Gas Accountability Project, based in Durango, Colorado for the past six years. A large part of this work has been assisting communities and local governments throughout the Rockies and increasingly some of the eastern states to address the impacts of oil and gas development. Early this summer, this led to the introduction of bills in the US House and Senate to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act. Bruce and Lucy Feazel Baizel '80 live with their two daughters, Sialia and Jassana, in Hesperus, Colorado. They welcome visits from Earlhamites.

Hello and best wishes to the Class of 1979! Dotty and I are eagerly awaiting our class reunion in the fall. Even though I know the economy is rough start saving for the trip and the community and re-connecting will make the sacrifices worth it. It has been a challenging year for me as I have finished breast cancer treatment this month all while working full time. I am optimistic about the future and more than ever cherish each and every day. Hope to see you in October.

Cheryl Mitchell-Olds
We were lucky to have our daughter Sara '11 spend the fall on the Tanzania program - leading to us coming at the end of the program. Between her functional fluency in Swahili and her contacts we had some great adventures. We are now all trying to figure out how to get back to Africa. In the meantime we are all back at work or school. I am planning on being at Earlham for the reunion in the fall as I hope many of you are.

We have recently downsized our footprint, ecological and financial, by moving from a rural old Victorian to a much smaller 1960s brick ranch that is walking distance to school, work, grocery and pharmacy yet also backs up on a creek, park, and bike path. Kids are now 1st and 3rd grades and make my heart alternately soar and stop. I work part-time as a grant writer for nonprofit health centers and museums, David is tenured at Denison.
