In October, Steve marked 10 years of self employment in the Executive Search business. We also began our 10th year of volunteering for the homeless shelter at our church. Our 30th class reunion is coming up. Hope everyone's making plans to attend. If you have any suggestions, please pass them along to me or Peter Kyriacopoulos.

Our daughter, Sarah, '11 has just returned from the Northern Ireland program where she did her HDSR field study working with autistic children at the Belmont School. She had many wonderful experiences, one of which was spotting a Puffin at the Rathlin Island Seabird Centre. Evan, '08 is an Americorps volunteer and works for the National Forest Service in Elkins WV. Our oldest daughter, Laura and her husband Jeff have moved back to Chicago where they are both physician's assistants. We traveled to St. Louis this spring and visited with Ellen Schwab '80 and we still keep in contact with Andrea Russell Cody, '79.

Obituaries:
Susan Broadus
Susan Jo Wilson-Broadus, 53, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009, in Sacramento, Calif. Born in Kokomo on June 14, 1956, to Wayne and Dixie (Cooprider) Wilson, Susan was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a courageously outspoken civil servant. A champion of the environment and lover of animals, Susan attended Indiana University-Bloomington and Earlham College, and graduated from California Polytechnic Institute with Bachelor of Science degrees in civil and agricultural engineering. She was a professional civil engineer licensed in Michigan, California and Oregon. She established and operated Agua Engineering, a private firm dedicated to protecting the environment.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas A. Broadus, Sacramento, Calif., originally of New Albany; her mother, Dixie Wilson, Kokomo; brother, Michael Wilson, Livonia, Mich.; sister, Marci Wilson-Kapaan and husband Teunis, both of Kokomo; and brother, Paul "Spike" Wilson, Kokomo; four nieces and nephews, Grace and husband Mitchell Meadows, Franklin; Alan Keith, Indianapolis; Candace Staton, Kokomo; Shawn Wilson, Livonia, Mich.; and great-nephew, Isaiah Keith, Kokomo. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles, Judy Suter, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; Steven Cooprider, Kokomo, Richard and Linda Wilson, Fishers, Robert and Mary Emry, Bay St. Louis, Mo., and Richard and Judie Emry, Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Wilson, Kokomo; and her grandparents. Among her many other jobs, Susan was drain commissioner for Grand Traverse County, Mich.; Director of Public Works/City Engineer in Ashland, Ore.; Director of Public Works for the city of Central Point, Ore.; and District Hydraulics Engineer in Redding, Calif. In each of these positions, she specialized in safe drainage, groundwater infiltration systems, and flood control. She was instrumental in stabilizing Bear Creek in southern Oregon after flooding caused mass erosion and bank wasting. She also designed drainage and groundwater infiltration systems to improve Interstate 5 in Anaheim, Calif.
Susan was most recently employed as a senior engineer for the state of California Water Resources Department. A true hero for the disenfranchised, Susan was fluent in Spanish, and spent many hours teaching migrant children. Her life was spent as a steward for the environment and a friend of the oppressed. Susan was a student at Taylor High School, but graduated in 1974 from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where her career choice was inspired. She was the "mother" of two cats, Pally and Whisper Wilson.
