I'm now working for the United Nation's specialized agency on aviation - the International Civil Aviation Organization - at its headquarters in Montreal. An exciting opportunity to continue my international interests and work with people from throughout the world. Montreal is a fun and exciting place to live, with its round of festivals and parks and activities.

After twenty years I have left the healthcare industry and have returned to academia. I now serve as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Arizona State University. Check it out at www.asu.edu and if you are ever in Arizona you are welcome to drop me a line.

I am still firmly rooted (moss between my toes and all) in the NW, living just outside of Seattle with my husband, Bob, and two wonderful kids, Caitlin(13) and Brian(9). Both kids are avid swimmers and swim for the local swim team. That keeps me busy doing the "mom taxi" thing and spending many weekends at one pool or another cheering them on. In my spare time, I run my own consulting business putting together health and safety plans for companies. We were spared damage to our house during the December storms and learned to cope without power for 8 days - we were grateful for our camping skills and equipment!

Obituaries:

Catherine Lane Tyler
It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform the alumni of the passing of my wife, Catherine (Lane) Tyler on August 18, 2007. Kate’s biggest passions were her family and travel. She loved nothing as much as experiencing new places and cultures with her husband and children, Andrew (12) and Alison (20). Kate was an Assistant Professor of Management at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She received her PH.D in business from Florida Atlantic University, her Masters from the University of South Florida and her Bachelors from Earlham College ('82). She made her academic home the School of Business Administration at Oakland University, and had worked as a visiting scholar at the Vienna University of Technology in Austria and the University for Business and Technology in Pristina, Kosovo. She actively participated in many aspects of university life and was a mentor through both the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and the University SAFE Ally Program. She especially enjoyed the international aspect of teaching and was able to travel with students to both India and China over the past several years. She was known for a variety of areas that covered performance appraisal, organizational change and international aspects of teaching and management, and had published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Management Education, and Human Resource Management Journal among others. Her inquisitive mind and fine sense of humor were valued by all that she touched in her life. A memorial fund has been established at Oakland University to remember Kate and her passion for teaching and learning. Mike Tyler may be contacted Email Mike Tyler
