Warm greetings to all from Berlin, Germany, where I moved to last summer ... only my eighth new city or country since graduation. Berlin's a vibrant and challening place to be, and work in freelance journalism and translating is slowly picking up. My partner Véronique and I would love to host any Earlhamites passing through the German capital, so do get in touch! I saw Randa Massot '91 last fall when she was here to help organize a French chanson concert.

My partner, Miko, and I are delighted to be the parents of Jordan Tamura, born on August 6, 2007. Life is full in a good way. We live in the Boston area -- where Miko is completing her rotations in medical school and I continue to practice law in the area of civil rights and education. Jordan is (and we are!) fortunate to have her aunt and uncle (Emily Hunter, '87, and Matthew Patterson, '88) and cousins in nearby Vermont.

I'm sorry it’s been so long since I “phoned home” to Earlham! I’m still in Philadelphia and still shooting news, for the last couple of years at the local NBC television station. In 1999 I met a wonderful woman here named Milagros Ofray (everybody calls her Millie), and in 2002 we got married in her hometown of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. I’ve gone back to school to learn Spanish, and I’ve fallen in love with the language on the way to being able to talk to my in-laws. In January of 2007, our son, Alex, was born. He’s now a delightful 1-year-old (if I may say so myself!) with already a great sense of humor, lots of hair, and more of a social life than I’ve ever had! I’d love to hear from you fellow Earlhamites ![]()

Contrary to my collegiate aversion to anything nature-related, I'm proud to say I'm finally growing up & venturing outdoors. We recently moved into a former carriage house, we have a second home up in the Catskills, and on New Year's Eve I graciously allowed a large tree to run head-on into my wife's gas-guzzling SUV. Alas, I still occasionally yearn for civilization, and recently satisfied this urge by attending the Van Halen reunion concert with two of my closest EC pals (Rick Russell & Paul Durr).

Anna Sher Simon
Anna Sher Simon and Francine Simon are proud to announce the birth of their baby, Jeremy Benjamin Simon, born July 3, 2007. We
were "married" (no legal recognition available as yet) at Denver Botanic Gardens (DBG) in the summer of 2005 (Mark Rebstock, in attendance), and after a year of adventures that included a trip to Patagonia and a 500 mile bicycle tour of Colorado, decided to start
growing our family. Anna remains "Dr. Sher" professionally in her joint position at DBG and the University of Denver, where the Biology
faculty have recently voted to award her early tenure. For photos and other news, visit us at http://www.oursimonfamily.blogspot.com. Life has
never been so sweet!

Alison and I welcomed the birth of our second (and last!) child, Finn, in May. He came home on his brother Henry's second birthday. Dan Hobbs, Emily Lewis, Lynn Curry, Megan Knight and Alison Hobbs '88 visited the newest arrival in the summer.
