Neil Austin
I have finally ended the madness: no more year-on/year-off rotations to the Middle East for THIS guy! I left the Army in April and recently moved to join my wife in Ohio. It's a little odd to be in Buckeye central for a kid who was raised on Maize & Blue, but I manage. I am enjoying the summer and look forward to winter for a change after the sands of Iraq and the humidity of Savannah, GA.

Gretchen Kleinhen Salinas
Hello everyone! My husband and I made a big decision this year, we packed up our family/ belongings and moved 1200 miles South West to Beaumont, TX. It's been a crazy few months, but everything has fallen into place during our whole transition so we know this move was meant to be. Would love to hear from anyone who is in the area. Email me
.

Sarah Schaack
Even though the all-nighters and back campus romps ended over a decade ago for most of my classmates, I have only just recently finally finished college. Hallelujah! Now, in a robust effort to eschew any academic stereotype that I might have earned over the last 10 years, I am living in a trailer in Texas. How I ended up here is a mystery, but I am guessing it won't be for long. I doubt many Earlhamites visit these parts, but if you do, or you get trapped here enroute to somewhere else, email me
and I'll provide refuge. Mi casa, su casa (I wish I could include a picture of mi casa so you could see exactly what that means....) Check out my blog: http://www.schaackmobile.blogpost.com.

Kristina Skarin Smucker
It has been an exciting year: my husband, Ty, and I returned to Missoula, MT after spending 7 months teaching a study abroad program in the highlands of Ecuador. We had great students, amazing experiences, and we finally saw Andean Bears in the wild! Back in Montana, I was promoted to the Assistant Director position at the Avian Science Center (read more about what we do at http://avianscience.dbs.umt.edu/). Then Ty accepted a permanent job as the Supervisory Biologist on a National Wildlife Refuge just north of Missoula. And the best news of all is that I am expecting our first baby on February 7th! We've decided to name her Hannah Elizabeth and we are very excited to be parents.
(Posted January 31, 2009)
Update: Hannah Elizabeth Smucker was born Saturday, Feb. 7th at 12:51 pm, 6 pounds 13 ounces, and 19 inches long. Mom Kristina Skarin Smucker and Dad Ty are happy parents.

Keith Morey
Keith graduated from the Earlham College MAT program May 2008. He is now teaching at Dennis Middle School and enjoying the rigors of first year teaching. Just a quick plug for the program, he says, “I feel incredibly prepared for the rigors of every day teaching in public education. The program was a challenging but very worthwhile experience!” He is continuing to train for marathons and has “somehow learned to enjoy running for hours at a time”. He will compete in his 3rd one on November 1st. Sarah and Keith moved into the Sustainable living demonstration home at Cope Environmental Center in April 2008, and are enjoying all of the benefits of solar panels, wind turbines, recycling, composting and generally living a more sustainable life. “If you would like to learn more about our home you can see it at www.copeenvironmentalcenter.org. Tours are the third Wednesday of every month. If you’re ever in Richmond feel free to stop in for a visit."
