Olympia Diamond
After graduation I spent 3 years working at Earlham as the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach and had a wonderful time. I have left Richmond and decided to continue in my education and travels, so I thought it would be fun to combine them. I am now in a Post Baccalaureate Program, studying Art Conservation and Restoration in Florence, Italy. I will be in Florence until May of 2010 and I am looking forward to visits from

This past season I played Indoor football up in Fairbanks Alaska. The league is called the Indoor Football League or the IFL. I was in Alaska
for 6 months, March through August. It was very beautiful, and nothing like I expected. When most people think of Alaska I'm sure the first thing that crosses their mind is "freezing". I was fortunate enough to be up there during their summer months where it was in the 70 and 80's and daylight for 24 hours. It was an amazing experience!

Katrina McQuail
I hope this note finds you well! I hope you will take a minute to write and share with the rest of the class what you have been up to in the past 6 months! I have spent the summer living and working on my family farm in southwestern Ontario, Canada with Nathan Henderson. We have a large market garden, pastured pork, free range chickens, grass fed beef, lamb, and apple orchard and Belgian work horses. It has been a wonderful summer of working in the earth, growing plants from seeds, raising animals, haying and going to farmer's markets and working with local restaurant chefs. We've had lots of Earlham visitors: Chris Nicholson and Jessica Castleberry '05 spent 2 months with us; Seth Barch '05 has spent 3 months on the farm as well. Shorter term visitors have been: Skylar Thompson, Kari Wilder Romans, Greg Woods '07, Kendra Biddick '74, Marie Nicholson '76 and Katy Nicholson '04, Our plans for the winter are to move to Boston after attending to Andrew Esser-Haines '07 wedding to Erin McDougall (ESR) in Philadelphia. We will be in the Boston area from November to March 2010, when we will return to the farm to spend another growing season there. Other excitement in my life is my continuing work with Friends General Conference. This year I will serve as the co-coordinator of their High School Gathering Program. As well, the book that I have been on the editorial board for is going to come out in April 2010 and we will be having our book launch on the Earlham campus! We'd be happy to have guests on the farm next summer, or in Boston for that matter! Be in touch, Katrina.

Life is great at Notre Dame. I finished my Master of Library Science this summer, and am now taking Legal Research at the Notre Dame Law School so I haven't had a break from homework yet (happily!). I am extremely busy at work, having taken on all sorts of new projects both in my own workplace and on committees in the American Association of Law Libraries. Highlights of my year have included several trips to the east coast for weddings and a conference, seeing many friends and family at EC graduation (although I felt old watching my younger brother, Doug '09 walk across Chase stage) and visits with Earlhamites from Seattle to Ann Arbor to D.C. If you are ever on your way through the Chicago area and find yourself in South Bend, Ethan and I always love to host - give us a call!

Allison Kuney
DENVER - They all have lived in tents, gutted flood-damaged homes, mentored disadvantaged youth, coordinated thousands of volunteers, and developed into our nation's future leaders. With 95 projects in 13 states behind them, Allison Kuney of New Richmond, Wis. is one of 31 Team Leaders who led 215 members of AmeriCorps' National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) during 10 months of full-time service to communities in need. Kuney, who arrived at NCCC's Southwest Region Campus in Denver in September 2008 to begin her training and term of service, graduated from the program on Thursday, July 23. All Team Leaders departed Denver and began travel to their home of record on Wednesday, July 29 after completing close-out activities. Kuney and her team of about 10 other members completed a series of six- to eight-week-long projects in different communities across the country. NCCC projects assist with disaster relief, improve the environment, enhance education, increase public safety, and address unmet human needs. The graduating class responded to 23 disaster callouts nationwide this year in partnership with the American Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the United States Forest Service, including a large-scale response to Hurricane Ike. AmeriCorps NCCC certifies 100 percent of its members in disaster relief, and has responded to every national disaster since the program began in 1994. There are four other NCCC campuses located in Perry Point, Md., Vicksburg, Miss., Vinton, Iowa, and Sacramento, Calif., each of which is a hub for its respective area of the country, though teams will travel to other regions for disaster relief projects. Before joining the NCCC, Kuney attended Hudson High School and Earlham College, which she graduated from in June 2006 with a major in psychology and a minor in studio art. Jarell Kuney is Allisona's mother. Kuney will begin a second term of service as a Team Leader in September 2009. REPORTERS: For information on Kuneya's specific projects, or to find out how to get in touch with her, contact Heather Dirck, AmeriCorps NCCC Community Relations Specialist, at hdirck@cns.gov <mailto:hdirck@cns.gov>. Celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year, AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, residential, national service program in which 1,100 young adults serve nationwide each year. During their 10-month term, Corps Members - all 18 to 24 years old - work on teams of 8-12 on projects that address compelling, self-identified community needs. The Southwest Region campus in Denver is one of four regional hubs in the United States and serves eight states in the southwest part of the country. In exchange for their service, Corps Members receive $4,725 to help pay for college, or to pay back existing student loans. Other benefits include a small living stipend, leadership development, team building skills, increased self-confidence, and the knowledge that, through active citizenship, people can indeed make a difference. AmeriCorps NCCC is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. For more information about AmeriCorps NCCC, visit the website at www.americorps.gov/nccc <http://www.americorps.org/nccc>.
