After traveling around Europe and the US last summer, living in Greensboro NC in the fall and Ann Arbor, MI in the winter, I have finally settled down in Washington DC. I came here for my dream job, leading workcamps (service projects) for Washington Quaker Workcamps, a program of William Penn House, a Quaker Center on Capitol Hill. I love the job and the city, which is certainly different from my hometown and Richmond. I can't believe that it has been a year already since college ended!

Hey guys!! I am still chillin' in the Development office at the College. I ran into Jen Walker, who is still in Washington, DC, while she was recently visiting campus and I also heard from Courtney Harris who recently took at job as a research assistant at DePaul University. I am looking forward to this years graduation and if any of you are traveling through Richmond this summer, drop me a line.

I have been 1 of 20 students chosen to represent the American delegation for the first Korean American Student Conference (KASC) like JASC in July 2008. The conference will be held at George Washington University, Brown University, Tennessee University and Berkley University. I will be representing my current school, Aarhus University in Denmark. During the conference we will meet notable academics, diplomats and ambassadors from both countries while debating with 20 selected Korean college students on international relations, security, business, and education.

Shaina Chermak '06 and I were married in Florida in July of 2007. Since then we have moved to Philadelphia, where I am a first-year medical student at Penn and Shaina is applying now to graduate programs in Psychology. Currently my plan is to, after four years of medical school, enter a residency program in neurological surgery with an eventual specialization in pediatric neurosurgery.

Reina Arai
I am currently living in Delaware. During the week, I work as a nanny and a Hotel front desk manager. Currently, I am waiting to hear acceptance responses from law schools (I hope to start this fall!). Next year, I could be pretty much anywhere in the country. I am always happy to see and meet Earlham people! Email Reina Arai

I feel I am living the equivalent life of Thomas Sinclair Smith* who in the 1780's assisted in small ways the US Constitution Framers in their journey to creating the independent state of the USA. ... The moral story behind this is that I have been living in Kosovo, working for the Office of the Prime Minister, which has been solely focused in establishing the grounds for an Independent Kosovo. The time has come... we are counting.

* - Thomas Sinclair Smith is a fictional character.

Hey all, I hope you're doing well. I've tried to keep in touch with many of you, but sometimes the days get so busy... so I decided to write a class note instead! After graduation, I moved to the Brookland neighborhood in DC (nice community) and found a job working as a federal contractor with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Though I was intending the job merely to be relaxing and some time off before more schooling, I've found a much more interesting and educational experience than I hoped for. In a few years, I hope to head on to law school. In the meantime, if you're in DC, feel free to look me up- I have a couch if you're in need. Even if you 're not on your way in or out of DC, drop me a line via email or Facebook and let me know what you're up to.

Anna Crumley-Effinger
Anna Crumley-Effinger serves on the board of Africa Great Lakes Initiative (AGLI), and was part of a conference call with director Dave Zarembka and others this weekend about helping with the crisis in Kenya, and has forwarded the note below.
How to Help Kenyans?
Many people are asking how they can help the Friends and others in Kenya. AGLI (Africa Great Lakes Initiative) is now accepting donations for the immediate reconciliation/relief work and for the ongoing reconciliation work that will be necessary. Quakers in the U.S. can assist by sending funds through AGLI to help with these efforts and by publicizing the current situation in Kenya. The mobilizing of resources is an important step to support the needs of communities of which Friends are a part. $1000 is on its way from Friends in England who seem to be more aware of the situation than Friends in the U.S. Send donations to FPT/AGLI at 1001 Park Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63104 and on the memo line write Kenya Relief. Donations can also be made online at http://www.aglionline.org. Dave Zarembka, AGLI Coordinator, is living in Kenya with his wife, Gladys Kamonya. He is sending out reports daily, including historical perspective. If you would like to recieve them directly just let Dawn Rubbert know by email via Dawn@aglionline.org. You can also find these reports at: http://www.quakerservice.blogspot.com/
