Alumni, Students Network During Annual Connections Social

October 17, 2012

Acs 2011-1Earlham alums who were back on campus for Homecoming and Reunion Weekend had a chance to talk about their career experiences with juniors and seniors on Thurs., Oct. 18 during the annual Alumni Connections Social.

“This event began more than a decade ago as an idea of the Alumni Council,” says Mandi Rice, assistant director of alumni relations. “This year, more than three dozen alumni will be participating. We simply couldn’t do this event without their help.”

Rice says that it is important for Earlham students to learn about the many different career paths taken by various alums. Those in attendance are engaged in careers ranging from environmental consulting to school counseling and the event is designed to show today’s students just a few of the possibilities that are available to them after graduation day.

Tom -joel -acs 2011“It’s a great way for students to network and to learn about fields, cities, graduate programs and employers that they may not have thought about before.”

“Many students think that ‘Earlham’ is something that is confined to this campus,” says Rice, “but as alumni, they’ll be a part of Earlham for the rest of their lives. This event shows students that Earlhamites go on to do meaningful work — and continue to give back to this community.”

The Alumni Connections Social took place in the Comstock Room in Runyan Center.

In addition to members of the alumni association, members of the African American Advisory Board and alumni from across Indiana attended.
