About Around The Heart

Around The Heart is our one-stop campus newsletter. The purpose of Around The Heart is to provide a single source for current, accurate campus news and information.

Around The Heart is both a print and a Web publication. Aimed at organizing and prioritizing important information for the Earlham community, Around The Heart is available online and is updated daily throughout the academic year. Items from Announcements, Events, Kudos and Governance are sent to faculty, staff and student listservs daily under the name Around The Heart Daily. You will find a new Around The Heart in print every Tuesday in Runyan Center, the Dining Hall, Lilly Library and other campus buildings, during the academic year. Consult the Publishing Calendar for more specific information.

The newsletter features the following sections:

This section is dedicated to official notices of deadlines, actions or information from various campus offices. The Business Office, Registrar, Security, Student Development and Student Government are the most likely contributors.

Along with a listing of the week’s events, this section provides guidance about events of highest interest or closest association to Earlham’s mission. The Events Coordinator and Runyan Desk are the prime contributors.

In this section, briefs about outstanding student, faculty or institutional accomplishments may be found. While the primary contributors here may be members of Public Affairs or the Web Team, submissions are welcome from all members of the campus community.

This section is dedicated to updates on issues and important agenda being considered by various committees of the faculty. While most submissions are provided by the President’s Office, committee conveners or members are encouraged to participate.

Listings of community-related service projects, tutoring and paid student employment may be found here along with a link to other Web-based listings. The Service Learning and Career Services departments provide listings for this section. A link to Earlham’s postings for faculty and staff openings is provided.

Notices of grants or scholarships available from off-campus sources may be made in this section. Career Services, Financial Aid and other departments may contribute listings.

This section is for advertisements for items for sale, lost and found, rides needed and offered or roommates/housing and other miscellaneous personal listings. Submissions are invited from the campus community.
