OUT OF THE DARKNESS:

You are invited to a special concert by Out of the Darkness, a choral group from York, Pennsylvania. The group includes Brandon Grady (Bethany ’08), Bonita Grady, Ben Grady and Jim Hunt. They sing a wide range of music from contemporary inspirational to African-American spirituals. The concert is free and open to the public. HUMAN RIGHTS ON THE BORDER:

Ray Ybarra, human rights activist, writer, filmmaker and photographer from Global Exchange speaks on immigration, vigilantism and the humanitarian crisis on the U.S. – Mexico border. Ybarra co-wrote the award-winning documentary, Rights on the Line: Vigilantes at the Border. When: Thurs., April 17, 7 p.m. Where: Room 211 Bolling Center. JACKSON H. BAILEY MEMORIAL LECTURE:

Professor Hiroshi Mitani, distinguished historian of early modern and modern Japan at The University of Tokyo presents Toward Historical Dialogue and Reconciliation in East Asia: My Voyage from Earlham. Professor Mitani discusses recent efforts to bring scholars from China, Korea and Japan together in international venues to engage in dialogue toward mutual understanding and reconciliation. Reflecting on his first visit to Earlham nearly 20 years ago, he also discusses how Earlham's influence continues to affect his work today.
