The next Faculty Meeting is Wed., Jan. 23, 1 p.m. Where: Stout Meetinghouse.

Currently there are two positions available on the Student Faculty Affairs Committee. This student committee works with faculty committees and the president in interviews of prospective faculty and reviews of faculty before they achieve tenure. The committee is intense and requires membership continuity. For this reason we hope that members will serve for three or more semesters (not necessarily consecutively). The time commitment is at least 20 hours a semester and may be more during heavy semesters.

Student Government elections are upon us. There are open positions in Student Executive Council (SEC), Student Activities Board (SAB), Student Organization Council (SOC) and Secretary of Finance. If you are interested in running for the SEC, gather a potential cabinet of four members (2 Co-Presidents and 2 Vice-Presidents) and notify ESG soon. If you are interested in running for any other position, SAB, SOC, or Secretary of Finance just ask ESG about a petition. We’re here to answer questions about elections and election procedures. The Earlham Student Government fall elections process is upon us! Nominating petitions for all open positions are now available at Runyan Desk! The following report is to comply with the Earlham College Judicial Policy and Procedure, which specifies that "once a semester, a summary report on (academic) CJC actions will be shared with the community". In Spring 2006, there were 8 faculty allegations of academic dishonesty by students.
One of the cases was for a second offense. CJC judged that the second offense had occurred and that the student should be suspended for the Spring and Fall 2006 semesters. The case was appealed and an appeal committee upheld the CJC judgment.
One (first offense) case was handled by the instructor and student, and the student withdrew from the course.
Six first offense cases were adjudicated by CJC or Dean's hearings. Of these, one case was dismissed, the judgment having been made that no offense had occurred. In the other five, an offense was determined to have occurred, with consequences ranging from failure on the piece of work to failure for the course. Contact: Len Clark, Academic Dean.

Your chance to serve on the Committee on Campus Life (CCL) is at hand! The committee meets weekly and makes important decisions regarding our lovely campus. The elections are on April 13-14. In order to be a candidate, a petition requiring 25 student signatures MUST be turned in by April 4. Petitions are available at Runyan Desk and can be left in Box 1774.

The Employee Council meets Wed., Feb. 15, 8:30 a.m., in Bolling Center, room 106.

These are the three ESG positions that we are looking to swiftly fill: 1) Publicity officer. Responsibilities include attending cabinet meetings, and advertising (heavily) ESG events. This person must like making signs. This person will get paid. 2)Web Development Manager. This person is not expected to attend Cabinet meetings, but will be responsible for keeping the ESG Web site current. In addition, this person could work on web-based projects that would serve other student groups, and would become eligible for 4-5 hours of workstudy. 3)The Student Activities Board requires a Treasurer. ESG needs students to be a part of the Housing Lottery Working Group to review and work on the Housing Lottery for this year. The LLC Review sub-committee has just submitted to CPC a proposal for changing our approach to LLC. The draft proposal includes changes in class timing, content, and structure.
