Hall of Fame
Tom Kennan
(2005) Tom Kennan, a three-year player for the
Earlham soccer team, was first team All-Midwest and All-America in
1951. Kennan, a geology major, was the 1951 team’s second leading
scorer while playing right wing, not generally considered a scoring
position. That same year he scored two goals to seal a victory in
a match against Ohio State. Kennan was the soccer team’s captain
in 1950 and 1951.
Kennan left Earlham in 1953 and became
a pilot in the United States Air Force. Later, he became a test pilot
and
instructor for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing and had clocked over 15,000
hours of flight time by retirement.
