For Immediate Release:
March 29, 2006

RICHMOND, Ind. — A couple of late rallies hurt the Earlham College baseball team Wednesday night as the Quakers dropped an 8-2 decision to Hanover College at McBride Stadium.

The contest stayed close until Hanover (10-5) scored three times in the seventh and three more in the ninth.

Hanover scored runs in the third and fourth innings off Earlham starting pitcher first-year Alex Anderson (Logansport, IN/Logansport) to go in front 2-0. Anderson (0-4) took the loss leaving the contest with one out in the seventh after giving up five runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts.

Junior Kyle Gallagher (Richmond, IN/Richmond) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Justin Colanese (New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie) led off the inning with a walk and one out later, Gallagher blasted a shot over the right field fence to make it 2-2.

Gallagher led the Quakers with two hits, while first-year Cal Wilson (Pendleton, IN/ Pendleton Heights) added a double. Senior Derreck Parkevich (Logansport, IN/Logansport), sophomore Manny Myers (Fairmount, IN/Madison-Grant) and first-year Drew Hosier (Gas City, IN/ Mississinewa) had one hit each.

Earlham (6-12) is back in action this weekend at McBride Stadium as Wabash College visits for North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The first game each day is at 1 p.m. Box Score.
