Quakers Fall at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Earlham College baseball
team dropped a 16-2 decision to Wilmington College on Wednesday afternoon.
With an unearned run in the first inning knocked in by junior Kyle
Bond (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead), the Quakers led 1-0.
Junior Kyle Gallagher (Richmond, IN/Richmond) gave Earlham a 2-0
advantage in the top of the second with a RBI single that plated
first-year Tilmon Clark (Winchester, IN/ Winchester), who walked
to begin the frame.
Wilmington (9-7) tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the
second and then added another run in the third to take the lead for
good.
Sophomore Corey Gareri (Thorntown, IN/Western Boone) started on
the mound for the Quakers. Gareri (1-4) left the contest with two
outs in the sixth inning and took the loss.
Gallagher led the Quakers with two hits including a double. Junior
Justin Colanese (New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie) added a double for
Earlham, senior Derreck Parkevich (Logansport, IN/Logansport), first-year
Cal Wilson (Pendleton, IN/ Pendleton Heights) and sophomore Manny
Myers (Fairmount, IN/Madison-Grant) each had a single.
Earlham (7-17) returns to action at Denison
University as the Quakers face their North Coast Athletic Conference
foe in doubleheaders on
Friday and Saturday. Friday’s first game starts at 5:30
p.m. The opener on Saturday gets underway at 1 p.m. Box score.
