Quakers
Play a Pair Against NCAC Foe Wittenberg

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College baseball team fell to Wittenberg University 6-0
and 18-5 in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday
afternoon at the Earlham College baseball field.
In the opener, senior Derreck Parkevich (Logansport, IN/Logansport)
led the Quakers with two hits in three plate appearances. Also, getting
hits for the Quakers were first-year Danny Bridge (Logansport, IN/Lewis
Cass) and junior Justin Colanese (New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie).
Parkevich (4-4) started on the mound and went the distance in the
first game for the Quakers giving up six runs on nine hits with a
walk and three strikeouts against the Tigers (22-14, 10-6).
Sophomore Eric Sturgeon (Logansport, IN/Logansport) led the offensive
charge for the Quakers with three hits in the second game, while
driving in a run. Bridge knocked in a pair of runs and first-year
Kevin Greve (Farmersburg, IN/North Central) added another RBI. Parkevich
had two hits and one RBI.
First-year Randy Kerns (West Manchester, OH/National Trail) was
the starting pitcher for Earlham in the second contest working into
the fifth inning with three strikeouts and four walks to fall to
1-3. Senior Andy Krickenbarger (Arcanum, OH/Arcanum) and sophomore
Corey Gareri (Thorntown, IN/Western Boone) finished on the mound
for the Quakers.
The Quakers (9-24, 0-15) complete their season on Wednesday against
Kenyon College at McBride Stadium. The doubleheader, which is not
a conference affair, begins at 5 p.m. Game
