Quakers Finish NCAC Series at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Earlham College baseball team wrapped up its North Coast Athletic Conference series with Wittenberg University on Tuesday with a pair of losses.
Wittenberg scored nine runs in the first inning as the Tigers won the opener 11-0 and followed with a 13-4 decision.
Earlham had four hits in the first game with one each from sophomores Alex Anderson (Logansport, IN/Logansport), Cal Wilson (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights), Tilmon Clark (Winchester, IN/Winchester) and first-year Jake Carr (Richmond, IN/Richmond).
Senior Rob Kinne (Ft. Wayne, IN/Canterbury) went the distance on the mound and fell to 0-2 on the season.
In the second game, the Quakers again had total four hits from as senior Kyle Gallagher (Richmond, IN/Richmond), senior Kyle Bond (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead), Clark and Carr had one apiece.
Earlham trailed 9-0 when the Quakers scored four times in the sixth inning. After two runs scored on an error, Clark and Bond had RBI singles to make it 9-4. The Tigers (15-12, 8-4 NCAC West) added their final four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophomore Kevin Greve (Farmersburg, IN/North Central) pitched five innings and took the loss to go to 0-3.
The Quakers (5-19, 0-10 in NCAC West) entertain Denison University Saturday at McBride Stadium in the first of two conference doubleheaders. The opener is at 1 p.m. Wednesday’s home contest with Wilmington College was postponed due to NCAC rules because the Quakers have already played twice this week.
