In the opener, Ohio Wesleyan (13-10, 5-5) scored four unearned runs in the first inning off of Earlham junior Alex Anderson (Logansport, IN/Logansport). Anderson (3-3) pitched five innings giving up 12 runs on 10 hits, but only five of the runs were earned.

Ohio Wesleyan scored once in the second inning and added another run in the fourth. The Bishops made it 4-0 in the fifth with two more runs.

Earlham got going offensively in the sixth when Anderson doubled home a run. The Quakers scored their final tally of the inning on an error by the Bishops.

Murray (1-2) worked 4⅓ innings surrendering four runs on five hits. Only three of the runs were earned. Junior Corey Gareri (Thorntown, IN/Western Boone) threw the last 1⅔ innings for the Quakers giving up a hit and a walk.

In addition to Anderson’s hit, first-years Andrew Morrical (Summitville, IN/Madison-Grant) and Kyle Ripperger (Richmond, IN/Richmond) had singles for the Quakers.

The two teams play another doubleheader on Sunday to finish the NCAC series. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
