GRANVILLE, Ohio — The Earlham College baseball team dropped a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader 11-2 and 7-1 to Denison University on Saturday.

First-year Adam Painter (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) got the Quakers on the scoreboard in the fifth inning with his third homer of the season. Sophomore Jake Carr (Richmond, IN/Richmond) knocked in Earlham’s last run with a double in the seventh.
First-year Corey Murray (Richmond, IN/Richmond) started on the mound for the Quakers before giving way to junior Kevin Greve (Farmersburg, IN/North Central). Murray (1-3) worked 2⅔ innings surrendering eight runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Greve went the final 3⅓ giving up three runs on six hits.
In the second game, the Quakers were leading 1-0 in the second inning when the contest was interrupted by rain. When play resumed Denison scored three times in third and added another in the fourth. Denison took a six-run lead in the sixth with three more runs.
Junior Randy Kerns (West Manchester, OH/National Trail) tossed a complete game. Kerns (3-3) gave up seven hits and seven runs with only four being earned with five strikeouts.
