Quakers Face

WOOSTER,
Ohio — The Earlham College men’s basketball
team kept its contest against the College of Wooster close early,
but
a run midway through
the first half proved decisive as the Quakers fell 99-63 in a North
Coast Athletic Conference game at Timken Gymnasium.
Senior Brandon Miller (Richmond, IN/Richmond) scored a career-high
32 points, but he was the only Earlham player to reach double figures
against the second-ranked Scots
(18-1, 10-0).
Earlham fell behind 6-0 to start the game, but the Quakers fought
back to tie the contest at 17-17 on a 3-pointer by sophomore Neil
Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) with 14:42 remaining in the opening
stanza.
The Scots responded with a 21-5 run to take command 38-22 at the
6:53 mark. The Quakers closed the gap to 11 points twice before the
half, but Wooster led 47-33 at intermission.
In the second half, Miller scored at 18:04 to
make it 49-37, but the Quakers didn’t get any closer the
rest of the way.
First-year Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) tossed in
nine points for the Quakers off the bench, while junior LaRon Henry
(Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) added seven and Collins finished with
six.
Moving up the scoring list
Miller moved into 10th place past Bryan Clements
(1987-91) on Earlham’s
all-time scoring list. Miller has 1,356 points, while Clements ended
his career with 1,352. Nathan Stoops (1999-2003) is 9th on the list
with 1,400 points.
Earlham (9-10, 6-4) returns to action Wednesday, as
the Quakers entertain No. 1 Wittenberg University on Schuckman Court
in the Athletics
and Wellness Center. The NCAC game begins at 7:30 p.m. Box score.
