Quakers compete on the road at Bluffton

BLUFFTON
, Ohio — The
Earlham College men’s basketball
team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday as the
Quakers fell to Bluffton University 72-62.
Junior Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond) had
18 points and eight rebounds for the Quakers, while senior Brandon
Miller (Richmond,
IN/Richmond) scored 15 points and pulled down a dozen rebounds. Junior
LaRon Henry (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) added 12 points.
Earlham jumped out to a 10-0 advantage after senior Tyler Stewart
(Richmond, IN/Richmond) nailed a 3-pointer at the 17:46 mark of the
opening half. A basket by Henry gave the Quakers a 20-4 lead with
13:31 left before halftime.
Bluffton began the road back with 16 straight points to tie the
contest at 20-20 with 7:25 remaining in the first half. The Quakers
held on to their lead and went into the locker room in front 36-35.
The Quakers maintained their slim advantage until Bluffton grabbed
a 41-40 lead with 17:31 left in the contest. Bluffton (1-0) led the
rest of the way as the Beavers built a double-digit lead.
Earlham (2-1) returns to action on Nov. 30 at
home against The College of Mount St. Joseph. The non-conference
game starts at 8 p.m. and
is part of a doubleheader with the women’s team on Schuckman
Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center. Box score.
