Quakers Fall at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Earlham College men’s basketball team dropped a 53-47 decision to Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
Senior Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond) led the Quakers with 14 points and six rebounds, while classmate LaRon Henry (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) added 12 points. Sophomore Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) tossed in 11 points.
Both Jewett and Henry moved up on Earlham’s scoring list. Jewett is now eighth with 1,444 points and just 28 points from passing former teammate Brandon Miller (2002-06), who has 1,471. Henry is 13th in school history with career 1,328 points.
On Saturday, the Quakers started with a 6-2 lead at the 15:05 mark of the opening period, but the Lords went in front 7-6 with 13:33 left. Kenyon widened the gap to 27-17 by intermission.
In the second half, Kenyon led 36-23 with 11:17 remaining before the Quakers rallied. Junior Neil Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) completed the comeback with a basket to tie the game 42-42 with 4:11 left.
Kenyon (9-12, 5-7) scored the next seven points to regain control of the contest with 1:54 on the clock and the Quakers couldn’t respond.
The Quakers (7-14, 5-7) entertain Wabash College Wednesday. The NCAC contest begins on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center at 8 p.m.
