Quakers Drop NCAC Contest at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Earlham College men’s basketball team dropped a Saturday road contest 82-70 to Ohio Wesleyan University in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
The Quakers had three players in double figures with senior Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond) leading the way with 21 points. With 1,489 points in his career, Jewett is now in seventh place on Earlham’s scoring list moving past former teammate and two-time All-NCAC First Team performer Brandon Miller, who had 1,471 points.
Sophomore Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) finished with 14 points on Saturday, while junior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) added 13 points and five rebounds.
Junior Neil Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) pulled down a team-high six rebounds and scored nine points. Senior LaRon Henry (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) tossed in eight points.
The Quakers never led as Ohio Wesleyan (15-8, 9-5) worked its way to a 48-29 halftime advantage. In the second period, Earlham trailed by 22 points at one point, but cut it to the final margin of 12 points with 1:12 remaining on the last basket of the contest.
Earlham (8-15, 6-8) entertains Denison University Wednesday on Senior Night as the Quakers honor Jewett, Henry and Joe Rihm (Beech Grove, IN/Beech Grove). The NCAC contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center is at 7:30 p.m.
