Quakers Finish Season in NCAC Tournament

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Earlham College men’s basketball team finished its season on Tuesday night with a 94-76 loss in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament to the College of Wooster.

The Quakers (8-18) had five players in double figures against the No. 4 Scots (23-3) with senior Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond) leading the way with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Junior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) and sophomore Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) tossed in 12 points each for the Quakers. Senior LaRon Henry (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) added 11 points with five assists, while junior Neil Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) had 10 points.

Wooster led early in the contest as the Scots built a 12-3 advantage with 16:55 in the first half. By the 10:50 mark, Wooster led 25-13. The Quakers battled back to trim the lead to three points twice with the last time coming at 5:07 when it was 35-32.

Earlham trailed 50-38 at intermission and Wooster scored the first five points of the second half to take control of the contest to advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Jewett finishes his career with 1,548 points, which places him seventh on Earlham’s scoring list. Henry ended four seasons with the Quakers in 12th place with 1,358 points.
