Quakers Face No. 2 Wooster in NCAC Opener

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Earlham College men’s basketball squad started North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday as the College of Wooster, ranked No. 2 by d3hoops.com, defeated the Quakers 84-62.
Senior Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond) led the Quakers with 14 points, while senior LaRon Henry (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) and sophomore Tristian Gregory (Evansville,IN/Harrison) tossed in 10 points each.
First-year Dereck Briggs (Indianapolis, IN/Northwest) added nine points with junior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) scoring eight with a team-high six rebounds.
Earlham built a 16-10 lead by 11:09 of the first half, but the Wooster rallied for a 34-28 advantage by intermission. In the second period, Wooster pulled away to post the win.
The Quakers (0-5, 0-1) return home next Saturday to face Kenyon College. The NCAC contest on Schuckman Court starts at 3 p.m. Earlham all-time scoring list. Box Score.
