Kenyon Defeats Quakers in NCAC Contest

GAMBIER, Ohio — Kenyon College pulled away from the Earlham College men’s basketball team in the second half on Saturday for a 71-51 win over the Quakers in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest.
Earlham trailed 31-27 with 17 seconds left in the opening half after a 3-pointer by first-year Mark Yost (Lenox, MA/Lee). The Lords hit a trey of their own at the end of the period to lead 34-27 at intermission.
From the start of the second half, Kenyon (4-9, 2-2) built a double-digit lead and pulled away from there.
Junior Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) led the Quakers with 17 points and three assists, while sophomore Justin Carter (Indianapolis, IN/Northwest) added 11 points.
Senior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) tossed in 10 points, while classmate Neil Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) contributed eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore Tarrell Berry (Indianapolis, IN/Northwest) topped the Quakers with seven rebounds.
An early deficit
The Quakers fell behind early in the contest 14-2 with 15:24 on the clock in the first half. Moments later Kenyon led 20-4 with 13:36 remaining. The Quakers finished the period with a 23-11 run to cut the Lords lead to four points before surrendering the 3-pointer at the end of the first half.
Earlham (2-11, 0-4) returns to action on Wednesday as the Quakers face Wittenberg University at home. The NCAC game on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center starts at 7:30 p.m.
