RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men’s basketball team finished its season Saturday with a 92-65 loss to the College of Wooster on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Earlham ends the year with a 4-21 mark overall and 2-14 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the No. 12 Scots (22-3, 15-1) were the regular season champions in the NCAC.
Senior Nick Welsh (Muncie, IN/Wes-Del) finished his career by leading the Quakers with 23 points and six rebounds.
Junior Tristian Gregory (Evansville, IN/Harrison) tossed in 16 points and handed out four assists. Gregory is now four points shy of the 1,000-point mark to become the 25th player in Earlham history to reach that plateau.
Sophomore Justin Carter (Indianapolis, IN/Northwest) came off the bench to add 12 points, three assists and four steals.
In addition to Welsh, seniors Neil Collins (Ft. Wayne, IN/North) and Terrel Brown (Richmond, IN/Richmond) played the last contest in their career at Earlham. Brown had six points, while Collins had one point with two assists.
Wooster jumped out to an 18-1 advantage before Welsh hit Earlham’s first basket of the game to make it 18-3 with 13:17 left in the opening half.
The Quakers closed the cap when Gregory hit a pair of free throws to make it 38-29 at the 1:29 mark before the Scots responded to lead 44-31 at intermission.
In the second half, Wooster pulled away and ended Earlham’s season as the Quakers didn’t qualify for the NCAC Tournament. Box score.
