RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College senior Joe White was named North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for football on Sunday.
White (Richmond, IN/Richmond) caught seven passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns Saturday in Earlham’s 42-35 Homecoming victory over Kenyon College on M.O. Ross Field at Darrell Beane Stadium.
On Earlham’s opening drive, White caught a 54-yard pass from junior quarterback Randy Kerns (West Manchester, OH/National Trail) with 14:36 left in the first period on the second play from scrimmage.
In the second period, Kerns found White for a 48-yard touchdown pass with 4:53 left in the first half to put the Quakers on top 28-27 at intermission.
At 6:24 of the third quarter, Kerns and White connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass as the Quakers tied the game at 35-35 to set up the game-winning score in the final moments of the contest.
White added to his Earlham career records on Saturday for receiving yardage (2,390) and touchdowns (27), while closing in on the all-time mark for catches with 159. The school record of 169 receptions was set by Todd Hawkins (1988-91) and later tied by Scott Peasley (1989-92).
Earlham (2-5, 1-3) is on the road Saturday at Hiram College. The NCAC contest is at 1 p.m.
