For Immediate Release:
Nov. 10, 2007

GRANVILLE, Ohio — The Earlham College football team closed out the season on Saturday with a 20-7 loss at Denison University in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest.

Dension grabbed a 14-0 advantage by early in the second quarter before the Quakers got on the scoreboard with 10:14 remaining in the first half when junior quarterback Randy Kerns (West Manchester, OH/National Trail) found first-year Bryant Foreman (Mechanicsburg, OH/ Northeastern) for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Unfortunately for the Quakers (3-7, 2-5), that touchdown would be their only score of the contest. The Big Red (4-6, 3-4) added two field goals in the second half to finish the scoring.

Kerns was 28-of-62 on the day for 262 yards and the one touchdown with four interceptions. First-year Michael Joyce (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) was the top receiver with eight receptions for 82 yards.

Defensively, sophomore Cale Gulliford (Marion, IN/Marion) led the Quakers with 12½ tackles and an interception. Senior Evan Williamson (Fountain City, IN/Northeastern) added nine tackles.

Saturday also marked the final game for Williamson and classmates Terrel Brown (Richmond, IN/Richmond), Alex Graham (Hiram, OH/Streetsboro), Carl Moravec (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park), Manny Myers (Fairmount, IN/Madison-Grant), Eric Sturgeon (Logansport, IN/Logansport) and Joe White (Richmond, IN/Richmond).

Career Records

White had six grabs for 56 yards against Denison and ended his career as Earlham’s all-time leader in catches (177), receiving yards (2,543) and touchdowns receptions (27).

Earlier this season, Myers set the school standard in all-purpose yards, which is statistically made up of rushing, receiving, punt and kickoff returns. Myers completed his career with 4,581 yards. The majority of those yards were gained running the football as Myers is third on Earlham’s all-time rushing list with 2,506 yards.

Darrian Story (1999-2002) is at the top of the rushing list with 2,614 yards, while James Barber (1990-93) is second with 2,578 yards. Box score.
