PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A trip to Pennsylvania started
the season for the Earlham College men’s soccer team as the
Quakers lost 4-1 to Swarthmore College in the Garnet Alumni Classic
at Swarthmore.
Earlham led 1-0 for most of the contest after

Swarthmore
scored all four of its goals in the second half after knotting
the contest at 1-1 with 59:40 on the clock. “They took over
the second half,” Earlham coach Roy Messer said. “We
played with a high level of intensity in the first part of both halves.”
